Gonna try and do some evening doubles at Dorsey's Knob Disc Golf Course - Meet at the main parking lot at Dorsey's Knob on Tuesdays at 5:00 PM, tee off no later than 5:30 PM. $5 entry, $1 Ace Pot (optional) and $1 CTP (optional)

The inaugural round of league doubles took place at Dorseys Knob park last night 8/24. The weather was good and the park looks really nice! Very picturesque.. 

We had a good turnout of heavy hitters!! Josh, Shelby, Kevin and new guy Drew were A's. Danny, Jason and Shane were B's.

Teams broke down to: Shelby and Shane, Kevin and Danny, Drew and Jason and Josh finding his way into the skitzo or odd dog spot.

Lucky him, he shot a whopping -11 for 1st place!! followed by Shelby/Shane at -7. Then Drew/Jason at -5. And Kevin/Danny on caboose at -2. Great job guyz!! Hope to see you all out there every Tuesday eve at 5:00 as long as daylight allows!!

I left out a very important aspect!!

The WVDGA league doubles ace pot at Dorseys Knob started yesterday!! Thanks to the WVDGA for donating the carryover pot from Morris park!!

The pot was started at $65!!!!!! And we added $7 to that for a grand total of $72!!!! On a course where aces are very available!!!!

So come on out next week folks and try to ace it up for a shot at the dough!!!

Also.. We had a CTP contest. A glo valkyrie was the prize. Hole #4 hosted the action. A downhill shot with pin between 3 trees. Shelby threw a forehand pink Boss driver and parked it approx 7ft from the pin to take home the valk!! Nice job Shelboss!!

Dorsey's Knob League Doubles
Week 2- 8/31/10

We had more great weather for discing on a late summer Tuesday evening!!! The last Tuesday of August..

And we had another great turnout. Eight players showed up to test there mettle against the force of nature that is Dorsey's Knob DGC.

We had Shelby Josh Drew and Danny as A's. And Phil Jason Shane and Mike as B's.

Teams broke down into Josh and Mike. Danny and Phil on the 1st card. They started on #1. And Shelby and Jason. Drew and Shane on the 2nd card. They started on 10.

Everyone was in on the Ace pot. Which is now up to a whopping $80!!! Jason almost cashed in on #8 when he hit the basket with a backhand driver but fell to the side... So close Jason!!

And mostly everyone was in on CTP which was a DX Roc donated by the WVDGA!! Thanks Phil! Hole #18 hosted the action. A daunting uphill blast. Shelby Drew and Shane all made it to the putting green on card 2. A step off was needed to measure, and Drew overtook Shelby's pretty close drive. 22.5 ft to 23.5ft!.. Nice job guys!!..

Final scores were:

1st place- Shelby/Jason -12;  42!!
2nd place- Drew/Shane -7;  47
3rd place- Josh/mike -4;  50
4th place- Danny/Phil -3;  51

Round took 2.5hrs

Way to go guys!!! We can still squeeze it in for another week or two or three!! ... Thanks to all for coming out! Hope to see you again next week.!!.

'The Knob' WVDGA League Doubles Play- round 3 

9/7/10

We had great weather again for the 3rd straight week!! Turnout was a little low but the firepower was definitely there!!!

 We had Shelby Josh and Drew as A's. And Jason Shane and newcomer Jeremy as B's. 

Pairings were Josh and Jason. Shelby and Shane. Drew and Jeremy. 

It was a tough round out there because everyone was making big plays!! On all 3 teams! Birdies came early and often. And no team ever bogied!!! 

Drew and Jeremy made a real strong late charge but came up just short. They got 'on the bus' just in time on #7 with a birdie. And then went a run of 8 out of 9 birdies including 6 straight when they finally missed one on #13 and broke stride. They were in the game the whole time though!.. Nice round guys!

The battle came down to 1 stroke between Shelby and Shane, who were leading, and Josh and Jason who were trailing by 2. That was until a huge drive on #16 by Josh. Which was followed by a monster putt from somewhere near 40-50ft by Josh for a deuce!!! Big 2 guys!! That brought them to within one stroke when Shelby/Shane made par on #16. But Shelby had to back to back crushers on #17 and #18 to secure the victory!! Nice job Shelboss!!! 

Final tallies were: Shelby/Shane -12  Josh/Jason -11 Drew/Jeremy -9 Great round!! Really tight!.

6$ was added to the ace fund for grand total of $86!!! Lots of shots have been close but no one has chinged it yet...! Keep on gunning fella's. Still a couple weeks left!... 

CTP was for cash tonight because we didn't have a disc. Sorry guys. But this way was fun!! We had 6$ put in, $1 from everyone. Hole 3 was the host. Josh won with a forehand blast of a brown ironwood stamped 11x KC champion Firebird @22' from the pin. Tough shot. Way to go!! He also donated $2 of his $6 winnings to the club CTP purse. Which is now up to $14! Slow but steady.. 

Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting the WVDGA and disc golf in our area!!  And thanks to BOPARC and the staff at Dorsey's Knob for getting all the tee pads finished up!!! The course position is now fixed!! And all the disc searching is tromping down those tall grasses.. Keep up the good work guys and gals!! 

Don't forget Thursday nite doubles at Morris park in Fairmont. Daylight hours are running short so please be  punctual!! Meet at 5:00. Tee at 5:20-5:30. 

AND.. Our major major B-Tier tourney at Fairmont on Saturday 9/11/10.  The Pleasant Valley Classic!!! We had 91 entrants last year and expect to break 100 this year!!! Come out and test your skillz against the big dogs of the region!! OH PA MD KY and more will be represented!!!!! Hope to see everyone there for sure!!!

Dorsey's Knob WVDGA League Doubles

9/14/10

We had our best showing yet!!! 10 players, 5 teams. Including a couple fella's from Huntington who were still in town after our B-tier tourney the previous Saturday..  

The competition was really tight with basically all the teams finishing within one stroke of each other!

Final results were:

Josh/Phil -12

Dave/Shane -11

Joey P/Josh -10

Shelby/Steve -9

Drew/Jeremy -9

Round time @2hrs

We had a cash CTP on #5 for $10 won by Joey P!! Placing it just beyond the basket for the win!! Nice work JP!

And we had $96 in the ace fund. That's is... HAD, past tense.. That's rite folks!!! We had our 1st league play ace of the season!!! Luckily for newby Jeremy, he was in on the ace fund when he faded a meteor around the tree on #11tee and crashed  into the basket for the eagle!!! And the $96 cash money!! Way to go Jeremy!

So we are back to square one on the ace pot... But there is still a few weeks left to build it back up some!!
