*Same Weekend as the WVDGC

What do boat races, helicopter rides and disc golf
have in common? The answer is the 2006 Regatta at Lake
Arthur!

This weekend, August 5 & 6, the Pittsburgh Flying Disc
Society will be participating in the Regatta festival
at Moraine State Park in Portersville, PA
(approximately 1-hr north of Pittsburgh). Our club
will be promoting the Lakeview course and the game of
disc golf in general.

Each year, folks from all over the area flock to the
shores of Lake Arthur for boat & kayak races, Kiddie
shows, free music concerts, bike trail rides, arts &
craft vendors, hot-air balloons, etc...just to name a
few activities. Now, disc golf has been added to the
schedule of events!

The PFDS will have a tent set up near Hole 1 at the
Lakeview Beach parking lot. We will be providing
maps/scorecards of the Lakeview course as well as a
regional map identifying our other local area courses.
The PDGA and select golf disc manufacturers have
provided us with several informational and merchandise
brochures. In addition, the PFDS have golf discs
available for sale as well as used, "loaner" discs for
anyone who would like to give our par 66 course a try!
We'll even have a short, beginner's course set up
around the practice basket area for families with
small children. Disc golf fun for everyone!

Please be advised the Moraine Monthly tournament is
scheduled for Sunday, August 6, at 10:00 am. We are
asking for your attendance at this tournament! The
Regatta organizers have requested us to host our
monthly disc golf tournament during the event. Due to
the West Virginia Disc Golf Classic (1-day, C-tier) on
Saturday (Aug 5), we have moved the Monthly to Sunday
morning. As a result, there will be no Sunday
Devotional at Knob Hill.

If you are interested in coming out this weekend, we
could always use additional volunteers to help promote
the sport we know and love. Of course, if you simply
want to come out with a friend and play a round of 18
holes, you're more than welcome to do so!Please, mark
your calendar to visit Moraine State Park this weekend
and play in the Monthly on Sunday morning at 10:00 am.
We hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Jerry Gotcher
